I love how food blogs always showcase the nicest and most well-staged photos of finished recipes. Too bad, no one ever really cares to show nice photos of the epic kitchen fails.
Blood oranges have been making lots of appearances in our kitchen these days. They are in season and delicious! So, what's a wife to do with a few extras? Try to make blood orange tartlets, that's what.
Notice how I said, try.
"You're in pastry school", they said.
"You can make tarts", they said.
Well, whoever they are, must be pretty disappointed at this baking fail.
What you don't see in these pictures is the paring knife that murdered these little tartlets in attempt to remove them from the cavities of this pan. It may or may not have been angrily dropped into the sink.
"You should have sprayed the pan," they said.
Good thing Henry has lots of encouraging things to say in times like these...
"If at first you don't succeed, maybe you should just give up."
